Dirty Bathroom

Cleaning a dirty bathroom can be a disgusting but necessary job. After all, the ‘dirt’ in these rooms can be down-right gross! We thought you would like to know about some simple ways to tame the work involved in cleaning a dirty bathroom. The team at Package From Santa loves these ideas. The techniques are easy to use and so simple you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of them before.

Stray Hairs and Clogged Drains

It’s not surprising that stray hairs can be found on many bathroom floors. And if those hairs are left for more than a day or two the problem grows worse. Don’t let that happen. Get in the habit of finding those hairs on a daily basis. A quick wipe with a dampened bunch of tissue paper will grab those hairs and leave the floor clean.

If clogged drains seem to be a recurring problem you should take control of the situation. This is easier than you may think. Add a screen-type drain cover in your shower or tub. This will collect hairs and other debris before it can cause a clog. Liquid Plumr or Drano can be used to remove clogs and pouring boiling water down your drains every week can keep them clog-free.

Moldy Shower Curtain Liners

Mold and mildew can be a noticeable problem on shower curtain liners. When you notice this your first thought may be to toss out the liner and replace it with a new one. The good news is, you can save yourself money by simply throwing the liner in your washer. Add in a few towels to help do the ‘scrub work’. A little Borax will help ensure your liner will come clean.

You can hang the curtain up straight from the washer and it will dry wrinkle-free. Re-wash the towels and you are good to go!

Glass Shower Doors

Glass shower doors come with their own built-in problems. They can get streaked and look pretty bad. However, there are ways to make water bead-up and roll off those doors. One suggestion is wiping the glass down with lemon oil. Another way to get this effect is to use windshield glass treatments designed to repel rainwater – if you use this method you should only need to apply the product about once every 6 months.

Dealing with the Toilet

Cleaning the toilet is not anyone’s favorite job, but it is something that has to be done. Here’s a great idea – put citric acid to work for you. The easy way to do this is to add a teaspoon of Tang Drink Mix to the toilet bowl water. The citric acid works like a scrubber. Just let the mix sit in the bowl for a few minutes before you brush and flush.

Bedtime Clean-Time

Most parents find themselves supervising kids during bedtime routines. That is, kids head to the bathroom for baths, to brush their teeth, etc. This can be the perfect time to wipe down sinks, tubs, mirrors and other surfaces. Just a quick tidy-up will make a big difference in how your bathroom looks day-in and day-out.
